Emilie and the Cool Kids was born in Nice, France in 2007. The first coffee shop on the Côte d’Azur quickly experienced great growth.

Today, there are 30 establishments spread across France, each driven by unique personalities and the creative universe of its “cookie dealers.” Despite this diversity, each boutique preserves a common state of mind and a consistent level of service, while cultivating its own character.

Eddie & Emilie’s Story

In the mid 90s, Eddie and Emilie found each other in an AOL chatroom that promoted pen pals—In fact, the room might have been called just that: Pen Pals! They exchanged addresses and wrote each other letters for years. Eventually Emilie went on to open Emilies Cookies in Nice, France, and Eddie had a string of successful ventures as well, but was also impressed with Emilie’s cafes in France especially after meeting her in person in Nice in the 2012. By that time, Eddie had already opened a successful establishment in North Park, San Diego, and had still always wanted to own an Emilies as well.

A little over 10 years later, Eddie now resides in Milwaukee, and saw an opportunity for an Emilies in the Cawker Building!

Emilies is now a global franchise with more than 30 stores lead by Emilie’s long time friend and business partner Celine, who is 100% supportive of Eddie’s plans to open an Emilies in Milwaukee.

Their first Emilies US store will be in Santa Cruz, CA, and have their sights aimed at the midwest and Florida as their first US stores.
